The Alabama-built Acura MDX earned a coveted manufacturing PACE award Monday night in Detroit from the nation’s leading automotive publication, Automotive News.
Honda and two of its suppliers won Automotive News’ PACE award for an innovatve industry breakthrough in door components. The door part comes in the Acura MDX, which is made right here in Alabama at Honda’s Lincoln plant. The MDX boosts the industry’s first laser-welded, hot-stamped door ring.
Honda won both awards in partnership with Arcelor Mittal (AR-seh-lor MIT-uhl) and Magna. The auto company says the PACE award recognizes Honda’s vision of making the Acura MDX “lighter, stronger, safer and more fuel efficient.”
In addition, Honda, in partnership with ArcelorMittal and Magna, was awarded the 2014 Innovation Partnership Award at Monday’s event in Detroit.
The awards were presented at the 20th annual Automotive News PACE Awards ceremony in Detroit.
