Honda’s United Way Campaign earns over $450,000 for area agencies

HMA raised a record-breaking total of $457,501.96 for the 2015 United Way Campaign – the highest amount in the company’s 15-year donation history.

Associates alone contributed $326,787.12, and along with HMA’s corporate match of $0.40 for each dollar contributed, the grand total added up to more than $450,000 for area United Way agencies and their benefactors.

“This year was wonderful. We exceeded our previous donation and contributed the largest total in the history of HMA’s United Way program with more than $450,000,” said Karen Sewell, coordinator of HMA’s United Way program. “So many associates care about the communities where they live and work, and are eager to help where needed. Through United Way, they are able to offer assistance to a child or a family or an individual who they may never know, but who is certainly in need of a helping hand.”

This year marks the 14th annual United Way campaign for Honda associates to contribute to the statewide United Way campaign. While HMA associate contributions travel across the area, once again the majority of associates have earmarked their donations to organizations in the counties that make up Honda’s primary five-county hiring area.

A majority of these funds will be distributed to agencies served by the following organizations: United Way of North Talladega County; United Way of South Talladega County; United Way of Etowah County; United Way of Central Alabama; and the United Way of East Central Alabama.
